Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes

Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes Explained: E15, E24, E25 and What to Do

Your Bosch dishwasher stops mid-cycle, beeps, and shows a code like E15 or E24. The dishes are half washed and there’s water sitting in the tub.

The good news: several of the most common codes point to a clogged filter or a loose pump cover you can often fix yourself. Others mean a leak or a failing part that needs a technician. This guide explains Bosch dishwasher error codes in plain English: what each code means, which ones you can safely clear, and where to stop.

What Do Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes E15, E24 and E25 Mean?

E15 means water has collected in the base of the dishwasher and the leak protection has shut it down. E24 means the drain is blocked, usually by a clogged filter. E25 means the drain pump is blocked or its cover is loose. You can often clear E24 and E25 yourself. E15 needs the leak found and fixed.

Before You Touch Anything: How to Reset a Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch’s standard reset is simple: switch off the dishwasher’s circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then switch it back on. Many one-time glitches clear this way.

Keep these rules in mind:

  1. Reset once, not five times. If the same code comes back, the dishwasher is telling you something real. Repeated resets won’t fix a clog, a leak, or a failed part.
  2. Cut the power before reaching inside. Use the breaker, not just the power button.
  3. Wear gloves. Broken glass and sharp bits often end up near the pump.

Bosch E15: Water in the Base (Leak Protection)

Of the three, E15 is the one to take most seriously.

Under the tub sits a base pan with a float switch. When water collects in that pan, the switch trips and the dishwasher locks out to protect your floor. Newer models show this as E3100.

What to do right away:

  1. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. The shutoff valve is usually under the kitchen sink.
  2. Switch off the breaker.
  3. Check the floor in front of and under the dishwasher for water.
  4. Think back: did anyone use regular hand dish soap in the dishwasher? Extra suds can overflow into the base and trigger E15 without any broken part.

Bosch’s guidance for E15 is to turn off the water inflow and contact service. We agree. The base pan only fills when water is escaping from somewhere it shouldn’t, such as a hose, a pump seal, the door seal, or a cracked part. Resetting the code without finding that source just lets the leak continue.

Bosch E24: Drain Blocked

E24 (E6103 on newer models) means water isn’t leaving the dishwasher. Bosch ties it most often to a clogged drain filter.

What you can check:

  1. Clean the filter. Pull the bottom rack, twist out the filter at the base of the tub, and rinse it under running water with a soft brush and mild soap.
  2. Check the pump cover. With the filter out, make sure the small cover at the bottom of the sump is seated firmly and not loose.
  3. Look for kinked hoses. Check the hoses under the sink and behind the toe kick for sharp bends or crushed sections.
  4. New installation on a garbage disposal? Disposals ship with a knockout plug in the dishwasher inlet. If it was never removed, water has nowhere to go. Bosch lists this as an E24 check.

Bosch’s dishwasher not draining guide calls food debris in the filter or pump the most common reason a dishwasher stops draining.

If E24 keeps coming back with a clean filter, the clog is further down the drain path. Our dishwasher not draining case study walks through what happens next.

Bosch E25: Drain Pump Blocked or Cover Loose

E25 (E6102 on newer models) is E24’s close cousin. Instead of the filter, the blockage is at the drain pump itself, or the pump cover has come loose.

The usual culprits are small and hard: broken glass, olive pits, bottle caps, or a piece of a wine cork. They slip past the filter and jam the pump impeller.

How to clear it (following Bosch’s steps):

  1. Switch off the breaker.
  2. Remove the bottom rack and the filter.
  3. Find the pump cover at the bottom of the sump. Bosch suggests prying it up with a spoon until it clicks, then lifting it out.
  4. Soak up standing water with a sponge.
  5. Remove any debris you can see. Go slowly, since pieces can be sharp.
  6. Put the pump cover back until it clicks into place, then reinstall the filter.
  7. Restore power and run a short cycle.

When E25 needs a repair: Sometimes the pump hums but won’t move water after you’ve cleared it. Or the code returns within a few days. Either way, the drain pump itself may be failing. That’s a part replacement, not a cleaning job.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes You Can Usually Clear Yourself

  • E22 / E9240 (filter blocked): Clean the filter.
  • E24 / E6103 (drain blocked): Clean the filter, check the pump cover and hoses.
  • E25 / E6102 (pump blocked): Clear debris from the pump and reseat the cover.
  • E12 / E2060 (limescale): Run a dishwasher descaler. If your model has a water softener, keep the salt topped up.
  • H01: Not a fault. A delayed start is set. Bosch says to press the + or minus button until h:00 shows.

Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes That Point to a Repair

  • E15 / E3100: Leak protection. Something is leaking into the base.
  • E23 / E6101: Drain pump fault. Bosch directs owners to service.
  • E04 and E14: Heater electronics or water flow meter faults.
  • E01, E09, E21 and related heat pump codes: Reset once at the breaker. If the code returns, a part or control board needs testing.
  • E27 / E9001: Low household voltage. If it returns after a reset, have an electrician check the circuit before calling an appliance tech.

This guide doesn’t cover every one of the Bosch dishwasher error codes. Many of the rare ones relate to specific Bosch features. If your code isn’t covered here, look it up on Bosch’s official US error code list before booking anyone.

How Dara Handles Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes

Honest appliance repair starts with telling you when you don’t need us. If cleaning the filter or pump clears an E24 or E25, you’re done.

Editor note (remove before publishing): Add one or two sentences here from a real Dara Bosch dishwasher job (which code showed, what Darkhan or the technician found, how it was fixed). Use only the actual job details. Optional photo: real Bosch pump cover or debris from that job, with alt text such as “Debris removed from a Bosch dishwasher drain pump during a Dara Appliance Repair service call.”

When a code keeps coming back, our certified appliance technicians, with experience across Bosch dishwashers, test the parts behind it. That means the drain pump, the base pan float switch, hoses and seals, and the heating and control circuits. Darkhan, Dara’s owner, still goes out on repair calls himself alongside the team.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset a Bosch dishwasher error code? Switch off the dishwasher’s circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then turn it back on. If the same code returns, the underlying problem still needs attention.

Why does my Bosch keep showing E15 after I reset it? E15 means water is sitting in the base pan. Resetting clears the code, but the float switch trips again as long as water remains or the leak continues. Turn off the water supply and have the leak source found.

What’s the difference between E24 and E25? Both mean the dishwasher can’t drain. E24 points to a blocked drain filter, while E25 points to a blocked drain pump or a loose pump cover. Start by cleaning the filter, then check the pump.

What does H01 mean on a Bosch dishwasher? H01 isn’t an error. It means a delayed start is set for one hour. Press the + or minus button until h:00 appears to cancel it.

Should I check my Bosch warranty first? Yes. If your dishwasher is new, check whether it’s still covered by the manufacturer before paying for a repair. Your model and serial numbers are usually printed on a label along the edge of the door.

Do you repair Bosch dishwashers? Yes. Dara Appliance Repair works on Bosch dishwashers along with all other major and luxury appliance brands.
